Most of my work is done in layers.  For me, the process of creating art is never about the outcome, but about how each piece reveals itself to me as I introduce new components into each layer I paint.  I do not start with a particular plan but with a color and then the layering of other colors and textures into that.  My process is more intuitive than thought out.  I work quickly and allow myself the freedon to simply be with the painting.  Many external events like weather, seasons, moods, and urban and rural landscapes, influence my painting and any one of those may inform a layer and what color or texture I chose.  In turn I can reveal or obscure something from a previous layer deepening my connection to my painting.  If a piece or part of a painting becomes too "precious", I tend to cover it up because I start thinking too much and the painting becomes more important than the process.  I enjoy working in abstraction because it allows me to look inward and bring that forth.
