I am a Northwest Native who grew up on Whidbey Island, where I began my journey spending days outside in observance of the world around me. The abstract patterns in nature - rocks, waves and the marks they leave in the sand, bark on trees, clouds, leaves, water and the way it journeys, heat waves floating in the air, and light as it travels through all of it, fill me with awe. Collectively, these visual impressions inform much of what happens in my paintings. The other source that plays a major role in my work is the energies surrounding me. I am a busy mom, an athlete, a homemaker, a friend, daughter, sister and wife as well as an artist. I am frequently on the run, multi-tasking always and often swept up in the emotions of others. And because I live on a ravine and am still surrounded by the voices of nature, I have the opportunity to stay centered. My paintings represent the balance between the intense energy of everyday life and the spiritual energy that is my gift from nature. I have been painting for 13 years and continue to grow and seek new ways to express myself.
